The goals of the New Mexico Police Chiefs Association shall be to advance the science and art of police administration and crime prevention; to develop and disseminate approved administrative and technical practices and promote their use in police work; to foster police cooperation, unity of action and the exchange of information and experience among police officers of New Mexico; to bring about the recruitment and training in the police profession of qualified persons; to encourage adherence by all police officers to high professional standards of conduct; and to recommend and initiate law enforcement related legislation which is beneficial to the citizens of New Mexico and to the police profession.

The New Mexico Association of Chiefs of Police and American Military University have joined in an Educational Partnership to provide higher education (Associate through Doctorate) to all members, your officers, employees and their families. Under this partnership, AMU has reduced the cost of classes for members and family members, removed fees, provide books at no cost, accept transfer credit at no cost and recognizes professional and continuing education from numerous sources. AMU is without classroom schedules because it is 100% on-line. AMU is Regionally Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and rated in the top 20 of 300 universities. Many of the instructors are current or former leaders in national security, law enforcement and intelligence.
